ArtHangar Ideas Laboratory.
Project 'Matches'

  Matches – so simple. They are often met - they are usual things.
  Computer miniature on matchbox labels was opened by the Modern Art Canter “ArtHangar” during summer season 2002. The name of the set is "Beloved things" . Or, it might be said - "beloved ideas". Not transforming matches into the real visual format we are trying just to emphasize the ideas and trends of the new matchbox miniatures. In this way all the sphere of our attention can be presented by the simple format of the matchbox label.
  Except for that, the simplicity of the presented matters is supported by the flummery essence of the matches themselves.
  Despite the vastness and variability of the matchbox art already now we can set several topics lines:

1. Naturally coming out from the form and function of the box -
"Do not smoke", "50õ35õ15", "The ship", etc.

2. Emotional - "The hand", "someone", etc.

3. Abstractionnaly big - "The sky", "The sea", "The Sun", "êKazimir Malevich", "The eye", "Yes/No" è ò.ä..

4. Territorial - "Solovki", "The herring", Hangar, ArtHangar logo, etc.

5. Conceptual list - "Lemon", "Stool", "Å2-Å4", etc.

6. Hrophetic - "Vesuvius eruption".

In this way, setting the world coordinate system by computer miniatures on the matchboxes, we present our art to the public.
The natural limitations are:
- the matchbox label space is quite limited and hystorically some miniatures may be understood only by Russians;
- the set is limited inly by visual imagies - it is impossible to show on the matchbox movements, scents, sounds.
The Ideas Laboratory is a new form in the modern art, presented by ArtHangar Centre. It is a form that lets maximum of creativeness and free thinking. Such works of art must be judged by their comprehensiveness and originality. To make it short - it is not a realization of the thought in material, action or other habitual forms, but the thought itself.
