The factory, (Viljandi Match Factory - Viljandi Tuletikuvabrik, later Viljandi wood plant - Viljandi Metsakombinaat), was founded in 1904 and now is the only one of the 4 Estonian match factories still operating. After the privatization of Viljandi Metsakombinaat by Estonian Match Ltd. in 1995 it developes rapidly. It managed to keep up with the increasing demand as well as the need for better quality.
Factory produses consumer matches, houshold matches, souvenir matches, long matches (170 and 295 mm) and barbecue matches.
